Winter Maintenance for Your Honda

Maintenance is one of the most important parts of owning any vehicle, whether it’s a Honda or another manufacturer. Fall and winter maintenance are particularly important, as the weather can be very hard on any vehicle and traveling can put excess wear and tear on your car. What fall and winter maintenance tasks should you get taken care of right away?

Fall and Winter Maintenance for Your Honda

  1. Check your brakes and tires to ensure that they can withstand driving in dangerous weather conditions. To brake in rain, sleet, snow, and ice, your system needs to be in excellent condition. Your tires also need to have plenty of tread and be free from damage or holes. Even with Honda’s excellent braking systems, you should still have your vehicle checked before heading off on a holiday road trip.

  1. Check your battery. One of the most common car issues in the fall and winter is getting in your Honda in the morning to find a dead battery. We can test your battery and, if necessary, replace it. When you open your hood, if you see any signs of corrosion or loose connections on the battery, you should take your Honda in immediately for service.

  2. Examine your oil and air filter to ensure that they are in great condition. While most Honda owners understand the importance of regular oil changes, they often don’t think about the filters that are just as important. Clean and functional oil and air filters will help make sure enough air gets into all critical parts of the vehicle.

  3. Turn on your defroster and heater to ensure that both of them are working properly. The last thing you want to find on a cold winter morning is a car that won’t heat up! If these are not working properly in your Honda, it isn’t just annoying, it’s also a safety concern as you might not be able to see out of foggy windows. Have your heating and defrosting systems checked as soon as possible.
