What do leaks mean?
Your vehicle has many fluids stored around the engine and circulating to make various parts work. This includes oil, brake fluid, power steering fluid, coolant, and a few others. Leaks literally mean that there is a hole somewhere in either their reservoirs or a hose that is causing them to slowly or quickly drip out. Bring it to us at Tommy’s Hi Tech and we’ll determine the source and have our ASE Certified Technicians figure it out.
Identifying Leaks
While most all leaks should be figured out right away, there are a few that are especially important, and you can tell by the color. An orange, green, or pink link is often vehicle coolant. Your vehicle needs coolant to remove excess heat from the engine, so having proper coolant amounts is quite important.
Light yellow leaks are often brake fluid. Many vehicles use brake fluid as a method of moving the brakes. Your vehicles brakes might stop working soon. Get this checked out by Tommy’s Hi Tech right away.
Brown is often engine oil. Not all leaks are seriously detrimental, but the important of engine oil tells you should get it checked out. Keep an eye on your oil levels on a regular basis too, especially when you see fresh leaks.
Maintenance
While a leak is not necessarily a sign of inconsistent maintenance, you can easily catch a leak before it gets big enough to notice by bringing it in for regular maintenance.
